Established in 1991, this initiative emerged in response to alarming rates of infant mortality, low birth weight infants, and insufficient healthcare for women of childbearing age, particularly in the rural counties of South Carolina’s Pee Dee region. With a strong community presence and commitment to addressing critical health challenges, Pee Dee Healthy Start continues to significantly impact maternal and infant well-being.
